The Soundscape:
Soundscape is the term that describes the ambient and background sounds to everyday life i.e birds chirping, cars driving, wind blowing etc. As society develops so do these sounds that we hear on a day to day basis. Schafer states even though these sounds are adapting and changing it is necessary that we establish these sounds are present and see them for what they are ugly or beautiful.
This reading in a nut shell stresses the importance of a soundscape and that is why in my project I added a continuing soundscape in the back to maintain a more realistic feel to the scene, so the audience feel they are themselves within the scene. As when we are all on a motorway or in a tunnel we know what to expect to hear. This makes my piece flow better as when there are parts of slight silence there is still a continuing background sound.
