Other Presentations:
Other Presentations and What I Learnt:
There were many other presentations, for example one on 'Sound in Pixar' and another 'Sound in Anime'. Over the course of the term there were plenty of presentations which all furthered our knowledge on how the sounds themselves they were created and some of the philosophies of the sound designers themselves.
One of the more interesting ones was the presentation on sound in horror films. This presentation showed how the sound designers build tension and what are the key elements within sound in horror. This was particularly interesting because if you were to get rid of the sound complexity in a horror scene a lot of the fear disappears due to the fact the fear builds from the sounds. Therefore showing the extent of how important sound is.
The presentation I took some tips from was the presentation on Quentin Tarantino films. This one was probably the closest type scenes to my one due to the fast paced action that you see in it. The group presenting this one spoke about how all the sounds of the things in the scene are natural and as realistic as to what they really are. Therefore, I went and found sounds of cars etc. that I would of been unable to acquire to make sure the scene withheld some realism.
But, of course my own presentation benefited me the most as it was on sound in Marvel, and with my scene being a marvel scene it most certainly assisted me. The main thing I took from it was the David Sonnenscheins idea that sound is necessary in showing perspective. This is what I attempted to achieve in my project by making some sounds more distinct than others when it is from another persons perspective.
